"Solid, affordable and easy to install HDTV wall mount" 2009-06-27
By Mark
I bought this wall mounting system based on the other person's review. I'm glad that I did. UPS delivered this mount on the same day my new TV was getting delivered. With a little measuring, I had this installed in about an hour. It came with all of the hardware and fasteners that I needed. No missing pieces. No damage or scratches. It mounts to studs and it very strong. There are holes in the base plate to run wires through. They are in 2 different places so you can pick the location that fits your situation best. I was worried that this might be a 2-person job but I did everything by myself. I mounted a new 40" Samsung. It fits securely and will not fall off the wall by mistake. I have had to remove the TV 3 times due to adding components and running new wires through the wall. Loosening the security screws on the TV rails allow you to take the TV off of the wall, do your business and hang it back up again in no time. Tighten the security screws once again and you're done. You can tilt the top down if you like but I have mine flush with the wall. It looks classy and there are no visible wires. My wife thought it was magic. This is a great bargain and well made. This is the wall mounting system for you too.

 "works great for cheap" 2009-03-07
By ScrawnyPunk (Houston, TX USA)
Easy to install and works the same as brackets priced twice as much. I went out on a limb to 'buy cheap' and was rewarded for once - why pay $75 for the same piece of metal just because it's branded? This one works great.

"Broke twice within 13 months (12 month warranty)" 2009-06-28
By Daniel Young
I bought this item and everything seemed perfect. About three months later there was a circle of dead pixels in the top right corner (about the size of a dime) and every day a few more died. After a month I had a line three feet long of dead pixels. Contacted Samsung and one month later a repairman replaced the entire screen. ($1400 bill paid by Samsung due to warranty, it was a little over $2000 when I bought it)

I received a notice saying my warranty was going to expire and it would be somewhere around $500 for three more years. I thought what are the odds of two problems like that, most electronics last 4-6yrs without problems.

One week after the warranty expired when I turned on the TV there were purple pixels scattered throughout the screen. Turn off the TV and turn it on to fix the problem. About a week later when turning on the TV it would turn itself off, then on, then off, and on, for about five minutes.

The off/on cycle has gotten worse over the past few months so I searched for a fix and found that it's a common problem, typically after the warranty expires.

 "Customer Service is TERRIBLE!" 2009-01-28
By Richard J. Mueller (Asheville NC)
I have now owned a Samsung 5265 LCD for 13 months. It has worked for 11 (actually this is the second TV after they replaced the first one with a refurb). The last repair was completed today after 33 days and 8 calls to Samsung. I now know that if you complain enough, you get to talk to the Executive Unit in NJ where Debbie, Jimmie, Shannon and Kathryn work. I have talked to each of them, but never could they tell me who in charge I could talk to) They have assured me that they have documented my complaints. Wink, Wink. This should have been an easy replacement of a power board, but the anti-customer friendly processes of Samsung led me to a month of sheer distraction. It was one bad experieince after another, hours of hanging on hold, being hung up on, being placated and being ignored. The repairman even contiunally bad mouthed Samsung saying most of the broken TVs he saw were theirs. Before he left he assured me he would be back to replace the power board again...but next time without a warranty. Its a real shame because the picture on the TV is great but it is not worth the hassle of dealing with the repair processes. I would warn everyone against Samsung.

 "12/19/08 price refurb $1250" 2008-12-11
By Greg Miller
I had a Samsung HP-P4271 1024 x 768 res. I bought only 5 years ago. I couldn't believe that this refurb was miles ahead of my old HP-P4250 what ever that is. First I paid $2200 for 42" of 1024x768 and 3000-1 contrast res max. With only one DVI-D input no HDMI. When I got my new HD sat receiver updated in Sept and the guy couldn't hook it up to my TV cause it had old DVI-D input So that's when I knew I needed a newer TV already. You can get the Yamaha new RX-V1900 7.1 surround @ 140W per chan w 4 HDMI inputs. You should put everything through that first. Blue ray, xbox, PS3, and computer. I'm HDMI crazy. They got to get rid of everything else and just leave HDMI.

So anyway I paid $1250 refurb at Compusa and $80 shipping freight. The Yamaha V1900 is around $1200 still cause its so new. But the V1800 got the same 4 HDMI inputs for around $800 online Then your set for COD4.

 "Great TV" 2008-11-13
By J. Dowell (Oklahoma)
This TV is wonderful. Great picture. The only thing I do not like is that you can't PIP from one cable box. You have to feed it UHF as your second source to be able to watch 2 HD football games (assuming one of your games is being broadcast). And I have not figured out how to switch the audio back and forth from the PIP. Not sure you can.

 "Reliability problem" 2009-05-26
By Long Fellow
Purchased this set in June of 08 after having owned 2 other Samsung lcd sets.I have had no problems with any of them and the picture is excellent in all respects but now the bad.Last week this 52nch set started stutering when turned on and was in obvious trouble no warning, set just started having trouble turning on.I called Samsung and they immediatly told me they would send someone to repair it as they were aware of the problem and knew it was a bad power unit. Some research on the net reveals that Samsung sets have a known power unit problem and there has been no recall. If this set had of held on for another 3 weeks I would have been out of guarantee, and the repair would have cost me in excess of $400.00.I still am pleased with the set when it works right, but not pleased with Samsungs business ethics in letting these sets run until the guarantee runs out, so the consumer has to bear the expense of a bad manufacturing process.I now question if the power unit that is being installed will just last another few months, then I will have to pay for another repair, or will the replacement unit be a redesigned one that I will get a normal lifetime out of. Only time will tell! Given the problems source Samsung should extend the guarantee on the power unit for at least 5 years.

 "Avoid Samsung" 2009-05-22
By Brett Tousley
What a great picture when it works. I shelled out over $3,000 for this TV in Jan of 08. A few months later the screen started to fail with more pixles dying each day. Samsung sent out a repairman and replaced the screen. Repair guy mentioned this was a common problem with Samsung LCD's.

Now 15 months after my purchase the TV no longer will turn on. Just sits there and clicks over and over again.

Checked the Internet and this too seems to be a common problem with Samsung LCD's. Something to do with cheap capacitors?

I called Samsung and they say "sorry, it's out of warranty" call a repair shop.

Give me a freaking break! This TV cost more than my first car and it only lasted 15 months.

Shame on you Samsung for producing such an unreliable tv and poor customer service.

I loved this TV from the moment I turned it on. The picture is perfect, the menus are easy.

My only not-good surprise was no optical-input. That was solved by replacing the component cables & optical sound with a single HDMI cable - that is easier to hide anyway!

"6mo into ownership, I'd buy it again" 2009-08-12
By Christopher M. Calvin (Saint Charles, MO United States)
I purchased the Samsung LN52A850 in Feb09 to replace a Sony WEGA 30" HD tube. I spent a lot of time researching various TVs, primarily focused on Sony, but hadn't considered a Samsung until I started making trips to stores to see them in action. It didn't take long to cross the Sony systems off my list of choices as their picture quality pales in comparison to the masses. I was, and am still, in shock at how bad the Sony looked compared to the competition. Side-by-side, the clarity of the 850, combined with the price (online available for as low as $2500 at the time) set this system above the field. Product reviews were good, so I bit when the Best Buy rep sold it to me for the online price, almost 800 below their advertised price.

Now six months into ownership and I'm still amazed at how good HD content looks on this screen. The audio was always, just, okay. DLNA is not very good, but I have a feeling that is caused by the amount of content I have available: roughly 1TB of music and video. I went as I planed and supplemented the audio with a Sony soundbar and the complete package delivers an AV punch that, for under 3K total, farby surpasses my wildest expectations.

Friends and family that see this thing in action for the first time stare in amazement at the picture. I'm now mounting it with a low profile Sanus kit which will have the face of the screen just under 2.5" from the wall thanks to the PowerBridge I'm installing in the wall to hide all cables. I think the only thing that would make my situation better would be to have another for the bedroom so I can watch it while the Mrs. is catching up on her soaps.

"Nice TV, but major clouding issues" 2009-07-28
By J. Johnson (Pittsburgh, PA)
I purchased one from Amazon back in February and in general I was happy with it, but it had pretty serious clouding problems. In retrospect, I wish I would have just returned it right away within Amazon's 30 day return period. However, after more than a month of being distracted by the huge white clouds on the screen, I decided to put in a service request with Samsung. The Samsung Techs came to my house and replaced the TV panel, and unfortunately the new panel had even worse clouding than the original. I admit I'm somewhat picky, but the clouding was VERY noticeable and distracting. And my thinking is that for thousands of dollars, I should be getting what I paid for. After weeks and weeks of calling the Service Techs and Samsung, they finally offered to exchange my A850 for the B750. I just received the newer model this past weekend, and the difference is night and day. The B750 has virtually no clouding whatsoever and about the same quality picture as the A850. The B750 is a bit thicker than the A850, but just as attractive in my opinion.

Besides the clouding, this TV was excellent. The picture is great, the TV is attractive, thin, and not very heavy at all. It's unfortunate that I had to get rid of it due to the clouding problem, and I also feel its unfortunate that even though this seems to be a well-known issue, no one seemed to want to admit it. That being said, I am glad that Samsung offered to exchange the TV for the newer model instead of the same one, since I felt like I would have no luck getting this model without clouding.

 "Don't buy from Amazon" 2009-07-20
By Mike A (Philadelphia, PA)
Bought this TV because of its great connectivity and great picture. Picture is great. Connectivity is non existent. It does not recognize any network router, does not connect to the Samsung BDP-3600 blue ray player, does not recognize any network connected pcs. Amazon's response was pathethic. Their white glove delivery service is basically take it out of the package and turn it on. No connectivity services. After realizing it would not connect I called Amazon and was told they don't support that and you need to call Samsung. And then the fun begins. First no one at Samsung can answer your questions. I've called 12 times in 3 months and each time I am promised a response by email or telephone call. They will talk to the product specialist or this guy at corporate (how professional is that?). They never call back. After one month they lose all your call information and you start all over again. And of course after they waste 30 days of your time Amazon then tells you sorry we can't do anything since 30 days is passed. Do yourself a favor buy from someone local who can support the product or take refunds. And buy something else - never had a problem with a Sony (Japanese makers seem to have much better quality than Korean makers). I've purchased 3 Samsung items and none of them worked right. BDP-3600 blue ray player didn't connect with anything and was erratic. Cam corder was absolutely horrible. Their stuff looks cool but does not function as advertised.

Will not buy from Amazon again.

Will not buy Samsung again.

"Stay away from this one if you like a clean picture" 2009-06-29
By K. Jones (SLC, UT)
The bright scenes look amazing. Unfortunately I have bad clouding in the corners and a spot off center. I called and a tech came out and said the panel needed to be replaced. They sent a new panel and replaced my old one. This was a fairly painless operation and I was excited to have a good television for my home theater.

However, the new one has worse clouding than the old one. Now instead of clouding in the corners I have clouding in one corner and four big clouds right in the center of the screen. I called the tech again and after messing with it for an hour and calling Samsung he said that it's just tough luck. That is the way that the monitor is supposed to be and that no one else has complained. I showed how distracting the clouds were in an episode of Star Trek (they are very noticable during any of the space scenes or any dark scene of any show for that matter) and his comment was "pretend they are nebula". Nice!

However, I find it completely unacceptable. I purchased a top of the line model hoping to avoid quality issues. I called again and this time he said he just came from a Samsung tech meeting where they spent most of the time discussing this problem. The new solution was to update the firmware and turn down the back light so it can't go over a certain brightness. It seems to me this would reduce your contrast ratio. If the set won't function at the contrast ratios advertised then it shouldn't be advertised at those ratios. Besides even when I turn the backlight all the way down you can still see the clouds. I just want my money back at this point. I have a smaller Samsung LCD (32") which has no trouble and 5 Samsung computer monitors which I have loved. I was very disappointed with this tv. It does not perform as advertised and they are trying to avoid fixing the issue by saying this is just how they are. That is garbage. Plenty of competitors have large LCDs that don't have this problem so it isn't inherent in the technology. It is just a bad design on Samsung's part. Buy something else.

"Get it, you won't be dissapointed! TRUST ME" 2009-08-02
By A. White (St. Louis)
First, let me state that I am a completely anal shopper and I over analyze go to various stores multiple times, read the consumer report, read customer reviews online etc., you get the picture? I have been in the market for a 52 inch LCD TV for the last six months. Based upon everything I researched, Samsung was the way to go. Initially I was going to purchase the LN52B750 and found it for $1799 with no taxes and free shipping. All reviews indicat it was a great TV except the ghosting which occurs with the frame around the TV as well as a glare because of the glossy screen. Stumbled upon LNA630 by accident for [...] no taxes free shipping. (note: It has a matte screenand no ghosting) It was very light weight, Samsung does an excellent job of packing the TV. Two of us were able to lift the TV out of the box. Setup was extremely easy with setting up the HDMI cables (for the record, I bought all of my HDMI cables at Big Lots, it is not necccessary to spend [...] plus dollars on an HDMI cable, just make sure it has the gold tip) Out of the box with adjusting the color it was a great picture and once I got the HD service, IT'S AN AWESOME PICTURE. The blacks are beautiful, the clarity is great. The sound on the TV is average, but that is to be expected on any of the new Tv's because there isnt much room. I added an I-Live Sound Bar with a Sony Subwoofer and the sound is amazing.

DVD's look great on the TV so I can only imagine what Bluray will look like.

The manual is easy to read, there is a quick set up guide. The remote is easy to use as well. Not to mention it's a great looking TV, the touch of color is barely noticeable but it makes the TV fit with any decor.

I had a budget and really ony wanted to spend [...]including taxes and delivery, glad I stuck to my initial budget because I accompished my goal.

You won't be dissapointed with this TV. I have had it for three weeks now and I love it more everyday

Have had the Samsung LN52A630 for 4 months now. Ordered it online from Amazon as they had the best price and free shipping. Delivery guys set it up in the den, removed packaging, powered it up. Everything up to expectations so far. Would do it again thru Amazon.

After much research, I finally decided to buy this tv. Consumer reports rated it very highly, better than the competition. And Amazon had the best price by far. So it was a no-brainer!

"Great 51" LCD TV from Samsung" 2009-07-08
By Stlwc77 (Indianapolis, Indiana)
This TV is great. The set up was easy, the delivery was perfect and despite the 52" in size it does not take up the whole room. The dark tones are very rich and the sound is good. The touch of color is just that; a touch as you can barely see the red that the put around the edge of the TV. All in all Samsung makes a great LCD TV and DLP Projection as we have one of those too. The best thing I can tell you is that they stand behind their products as our DLP Projection had a problem with the color wheel and when they couldn't fix the TV in a timely manner, they replaced that 52" with a new 56" to make it up to us. What company does that without trying to blame the consumer first and then having to fight with every supervisor they have? These guys are great and I highly recommend them to anyone.

 "The Best" 2009-07-06

This is the third Samsung LCD I have purchased this year. I have the same model in the 46 inch 1080p version. The picture quality is outstanding and the menus although extensive are easy to use as is the User's Guide.
